JLPT

A route to your exam date.

If you're working toward the JLPT, Passage takes your level and your date and works backwards from them — building preparation around the gaps you actually have, not the gaps the average candidate has.

N5 to N2

Passage supports goals from your first steps through to the upper-intermediate level.

N5

Foundations: core vocabulary, basic sentence structure, the first steps of reading and listening.

N4

Everyday Japanese: broader grammar, longer sentences, listening at natural pace in familiar situations.

N3

The bridge level: more abstract vocabulary, denser reading, and grammar that depends on nuance.

N2

Wider register: newspaper and workplace language, longer passages, and faster listening.

Working backwards from your goal

The date shapes the path. It doesn't promise the result.

Your level and your date

Tell Passage the level you're aiming at and when you plan to sit it. If you don't have a date yet, that's fine — the path simply isn't time-pressured.

Working backwards

Passage takes the gap between where you are and where you're going, and distributes it across the time you have and the study commitment you've said you can keep.

Weighted, not generic

Preparation is weighted toward the strands where your gap is largest. Two learners at the same level with the same date will not get the same plan.

Adjusted as you go

If a strand moves faster than expected, emphasis shifts. If life gets in the way, the plan reflects the time that's actually left.

Passage does not predict scores or estimate your chance of passing. It helps you understand where you are and what to work on next.

General Japanese mode

Plenty of learners want Japanese ability rather than a certificate — to read, to travel, to hold a conversation, to work. Passage runs the same adaptive cycle without an exam attached: it still learns where you are and still decides what comes next.

Passage is not only a JLPT preparation app. The exam is one goal it can work toward.
