FAQ

Questions, answered.

How is Passage different from flashcard apps?
Flashcards help learners remember individual items. Passage focuses on understanding what you need next and creating learning experiences around that.
Does Passage replace a Japanese teacher?
Passage is designed to support independent learners by providing personalised learning direction and practice.
Does Passage use AI?
Passage uses advanced technology to help create personalised learning experiences, while the learning path remains guided by evidence and learning design.
Does Passage guarantee JLPT success?
No. Progress depends on the learner. Passage helps learners understand where they are and what to work on next.
Do I need a JLPT goal to use Passage?
No. Passage supports learners working toward N5–N2, and also learners who simply want Japanese ability with no exam attached.
How much time do I need each day?
You tell Passage how much time you have, and it builds the session to fit. Short, consistent sessions work well; missing a day does not leave a backlog to clear.
When can I download it?
Passage is coming to iOS and Android. Join the waitlist and we'll write to you once it opens to new learners — download links will appear here at the same time.
